Micrometeorite NMM 338 is the iconic “Pot of Gold”, from the Atlas of Micrometeorites, page 54.
NMM 338 - Elverum
It was found at Eleverum, Oppland, Norway in 2015, which was the very first season of fresh/urban micrometeorites in the World. The field search is described in the book “Star Hunter.”
The ~0,2 mm Space rock is a cryptocrystalline (CC) type with a huge, golden nickel-iron bead in the front. The cryptocrystalline matrix is translucent near the metal bead, and the golden metal can be seen disappearing into the stone.
PROVENANCE: The catalogue number refers to the NMM archive, the index of Jon Larsen’s Project Stardust collection, which is the reference collection for urban micrometeorites. The stone was found, curated, and selected by Larsen. It is in pristine condition, fresh from Space.
