Classical turtleback from the Atlas of Micrometeorites.

 

Micrometeorite NMM 1609 is a large (~0.3 millimeters) cryptocrystalline (CC) type with an aerodynamic form. It is black with evenly distributed crystal domains all around. The surface between the domains is sprinkled with small magnetite “Christmas tree” crystals. The stone is a classical “turtleback” type, a jewel in any collection. The stone was found 2018 0702 on the roof of Bauhaus, Liertoppen, Viken,Norway.

    The stone is a part of the collection found during the fourth season of micrometeorite findings/verification in populated areas (2018). The catalogue number refers to the NMM archive (the main index of Norwegian Micro Meteorites, Jon Larsen’s urban Stardust Collection), and the stone was found and curated by Jon Larsen during the work with the Atlas of Micrometeorites, where it is depicted on page 72.

     

    VERIFICATION:

    The MM has been confirmed extraterrestrial by SEM/EDS analysis and visual identification by Jon Larsen, and is a verified micrometeorite, hereby confirmed in writing. The stone is sold with this Certificate of Authenticity incl. classification, a signed label, plus a one digital color photo.
