NMM 1998 - Alf Bjerckes vei

NMM 1998 Alf Bjerckes vei is a green glass (V-type) micrometeorite with a small nickel-iron metal bead at the front. The iconic stone (~250µm) is recognised by micrometeorite collectors worldwide from the full-page photograph in the Atlas of Micrometeorites (page 25). During SEM analysis, the stone split in two, revealing an elegant curvature in the glass, which becomes progressively thinner near the opening at the back, where volatile elements have escaped. A historic opportunity to acquire.

 

PROVENANCE: The catalogue number refers to

the NMM archive, the index of Jon Larsen’s

Project Stardust collection, which is the  reference

collection for urban micrometeorites. The stone

was found,  curated, and selected by Larsen.

It is in pristine condition, fresh from  Space.

VERIFICATION: The MM has been confirmed

extraterrestrial by visual identification and/or

SEM/EDS analysis by Jon Larsen. The stone is

mounted on a durable aluminium/glass/cardboard

microslide and is delivered together with a signed

Certificate of Authenticity and photographic files.

This micrometeorite is a unique museum-quality
