NMM 2124 - Skedsmo (Grove Knudsen)
NMM 2124 Skedsmo (Grove Knudsen) is a golden V-type (glass) featured in the Atlas of Micrometeorites, full page 43. Along with its striking colour, it has a large golden nickel-iron bead at the front, which has triggered beautiful conical olivine (forsterite) crystallisation in the glass. Additionally, a secondary nickel-iron bead has caused a sizeable pyramidal crystallisation, exemplifying the intriguing soap-bubble effect, as illustrated in the Atlas of Micrometeorites, page 281. A museum-quality micrometeorite.
PROVENANCE: The catalogue number refers to the NMM archive, the index of Jon Larsen’s Project Stardust collection, which is the reference collection for urban micrometeorites. The stone was found, curated, and selected by Larsen. It is in pristine condition, fresh from Space.
