The approximately 300µm space rock contains large, shiny olivine (forsterite) crystals bonded by chondritic glass. A brownish, oxidised metal bead is visible at the front. The stone gained fame when it was discovered on the rooftop of NRK, the National Radio, during a radio programme about searching for micrometeorites on roofs. The distinctive colours make this micrometeorite a gem in any collection.
PROVENANCE: The catalogue number refers to the NMM archive, the index of Jon Larsen’s Project Stardust collection, which is the reference collection for urban micrometeorites. The stone was found, curated, and selected by Larsen. It is in pristine condition, fresh from Space.
