NMM 244 - Bjørnemyr
Micrometeorite NMM 244 Bjørnemyr. The Rose from Bjørnemyr is arguably the most iconic micrometeorite of all time, recognised by The New York Times, National Geographic, The Economist, films (Werner Herzog), the Atlas of Micrometeorites, posters, and more. It is a dark, cryptocrystalline “turtleback” type with a golden nickel-iron bead at the front. The stunning photograph has featured in all our space art exhibitions (New York, Berlin, etc.) and sparks conversations on the wall. A unique stone and a historic opportunity!
PROVENANCE: The catalogue number corresponds with the NMM archive, which catalogues Jon Larsen’s Project Stardust collection and acts as the reference for urban micrometeorites. The stone originates from Jon Larsen’s private collection; it was discovered, curated, and chosen for Treasures from Space by Larsen. It remains in excellent condition.
