NMM 2794 - a good looking rarity with stunning magnetite “Christmas tree” crystals.
NMM 2794 - Vestby
NMM 2794 Vestby is an unusual, barred olivine (BO) micrometeorite. The approximately 260µm stone consists of one single, large crystal domain. Unlike most BO types, which have multiple crystal domains and are known as polysomatic—with each domain having its own orientation—this one has all crystals aligned in the same orientation. As a result, the usually hidden, rectangular top terminations of the olivine (forsterite) crystals are visible. Adding to its rarity are stunning magnetite “Christmas tree” crystals.
