NMM 2802 Drøbak is a cryptocrystalline (CC) micrometeorite featuring a large golden nickel-iron metal bead at the front, encircled by a shiny sulphide rim. The aerodynamic stone is distinctly oriented; the metal bead is at the front, with remarkable feather-like structures towards the glassy rear end. This large (~500µm) micrometeorite is a classic beauty.
PROVENANCE: The catalogue number corresponds with the NMM archive, which catalogues Jon Larsen’s Project Stardust collection and acts as the reference for urban micrometeorites. The stone originates from Jon Larsen’s private collection; it was discovered, curated, and chosen for Treasures from Space by Larsen. It remains in excellent condition.
