Micrometeorite NMM 4035/2 is a porphyritic olivine (PO) type with a large sulfide crater.

The ~0.2 mm cosmic spherule is made of beautiful golden olivine (forsterite, the Mg-variety) crystals. There is a large sulfide “crater” with an opening into an inner void (a punctuated gas vesicle). The opening is surrounded by a large sulfide rim covering more than half the stone. The shiny sulfide is like a µm-thin layer covering the olivine crystals. The stone was found on November 7th, 2022, during fieldwork searching for micrometeorites in the rain gutter of Firkløverskolen, Frørup, Funen, Denmark. This is a unique museum-quality micrometeorite, a jewel in any collection.
