This is ideal for studying the stripy, polysomatic BO textures and the jet-black, shiny turtleback texture up close, and for learning how to identify micrometeorites in urban dust. The 45 micrometeorites fall within the size range of 0.15 to 0.2 millimetres, and several have golden nickel-iron beads on their surfaces. PROVENANCE: The catalogue numbers of the stones, NMM 2-26_1 to NMM 2-26_50, refer to the NMM archive, which indexes Jon Larsen’s Project Stardust collection, the reference collection for urban micrometeorites. The stones originate from Jon Larsen’s private collection and were found, curated, selected, and mounted for Treasures from Space by Larsen himself. They are in pristine condition. VERIFICATION: The MMs have been confirmed as extraterrestrial through visual identification by Jon Larsen. The stones are mounted on a durable aluminium/glass/cardboard microslide and are accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity. Bonus: These micrometeorites have not been analysed by electron microscopy, and some may contain rarities such as platinum-group nuggets (PGNs).
